Desirable Personal Attributes for Problem Solvers

You may have the guides, knowledge, and motivation needed for problem solving, but if you don’t have the right personal attributes, your efforts may fail. Here is some help.

A definition of personal attributes also includes character traits, aptitudes, skills, values, attitudes, etc. We are concerned here with those needed for problem solving.

Honesty - Integrity, ethical, unbiased, impartial
Self-education - Always trying to learn more
Curiosity - An inquiring mind
Motivation and sensitivity - Alert and moved to solve problems
Initiative - Self-starter, gets things done
Creativity - Develop new ideas and solutions

Self-confidence - Good self-image, self-sufficient
Communication skills - Expressive – verbal and written
